Members of Charlotte Fire Department Chad
Hunning, wanted to recognize Fire Department
members who were serving overseas. In following
the blue star program in the city of Charlotte,
Chad came up with the idea of a magnetic decal
put on the side of the engine or ladder to show
support of a member from that company that had
been deployed overseas. The decal, will have the
logo of the branch of service the member is
serving , along with the Blue Star, also
inscribed will be " A member of this fire
company is currently serving overseas. We
support this member and his family
"The decal will be removed and mounted on a
plaque, presented to the member by there CFD
company upon there return to duty for the
Charlotte Fire Department.

Fire
House 13 Gets A New
Addition
.jpg)
.jpg)
Fire House 13 gets some much needed room. The
addition will be the workout room for the firefighters of
Station 13. The previous workout room was a small storage room
that houses the water heater. The room worked fine for years but
when Ladder 10 moved from station 10 in 1988 there
were twice the firefighters and the room became very tight. The
new room is state of the art with all new weights and treadmill.
The previous workout room will now be converted into storage for
Haz-Mat and USAR gear.

Charlotte Fire
Fighter Explorers
The Explorers visited Fire House 13 to see
what the station was all about.
They were given a tour of the station and
the trucks. Later the explorers
were given the opportunity to put on a
chemical suit and play basketball.
Doing this gave the explorers a better
feel of just how hard it is to
maneuver in the suits not to motion how
hot these suits can get.
